Napoli 2-1 Juventus: Player ratings

Juventus’ winless start to the new Serie A season continued on Saturday night, as they slipped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat to SSC Napoli at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The Partenopei started the game on top, but they fell behind on 11 minutes, when Alvaro Morata robbed Kostas Manolas in possession, raced in on goal and coolly slotted the ball beyond David Ospina.

Both teams struggled to create clear-cut chances for the rest of the half, and Juve went into the break ahead in Naples. Napoli needed only ten minutes of the second half to equalise however, although they were offered a helping hand by Wojciech Szczesny.

The Juve goalkeeper made a meal of Lorenzo Insigne’s curling shot, palming the ball into the path of Matteo Politano, who slotted home calmly. There was nothing calm about Stadio Diego Armando Maradona with five minutes to play though, after Moise Kean inexplicably headed a corner towards his own goal.
