Kevin De Bruyne could play vs Leicester

Kevin De Bruyne is in contention to face Leicester on Saturday, having missed Manchester City’s last two games with an ankle injury.

De Bruyne picked up the knock while representing Belgium at Euro 2020 and the issue has been carefully managed by the club ever since. Although the midfielder was afforded a late cameo in his side’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on the opening weekend, he did not feature in either of the subsequent 5-0 wins over Norwich and Arsenal.

However, as reported by the Daily Mail, De Bruyne may return to the fold this weekend. He has been training with the first-team squad all week, having neglected to go on international duty, giving Guardiola a late decision to make before the game. Even if he is not restored to the starting XI just yet, he is likely to at least feature from the bench.

Although news of De Bruyne’s recovery will please Guardiola, he will not be able to call upon Phil Foden. Foden picked up a foot injury during the summer and is still working his way back to fitness with individual training sessions. He is yet to feature for City this season and the club have not put a definitive timeline on his return.
