Ravens corner says Davante Adams is the NFL’s best receiver

According to Davonte Harris, there’s a level between Green Bay Packers superstar Davante Adams and the next receiver.

Depending on how meetings unfold, the Green Bay Packers could be entering an era most fans have never seen before. Since 1992, the quarterback position has been the one stagnant for NFC Central/North franchise thanks to two men: Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers.

Now, the latter could be following in a similar suit as his predecessor.

According to multiple reports, Rodgers wants out of Green Bay. The conflict between the front office and three-time MVP has boiled over, reaching to what feels like a point of no return. Should he stand pat on the call, the window shuts for Green Bay to win a Super Bowl.

Or does it?

Jordan Love will be a young quarterback hoping to elevate his game entering Year 2. Perhaps the best thing for any budding signal-caller is a proven No. 1 option in the passing game.

As Baltimore Ravens cornerback Devonte Harris puts it, Green Bay might have the best in the game with Davante Adams.

“Davante Adams, most definitely. I’d probably put him at No. 1,” Harris told FanSided’s Matt Lombardo on the Matt Lombardo Show.

Will Davante Adams be the same player without Aaron Rodgers?

Although a late bloomer following his selection out of Fresno State in 2014, the 28-year-old might be the most consistent weapon over the past five seasons. Last year, Adams led the league in touchdowns (18) and finished second in receptions (115), fourth in targets (149) and fifth in receiving yards (1,374). He also led the league in yards per game, averaging 98.2 yards.

It was that combination that led Green Bay to a second 13-3 season under Matt LaFleur, culminating in a revival  year for Rodgers.

“If you really look at the league and break down each individual team, there are ballers across the board,” Harris said. “Everybody is good at bringing something different to the table. But, if I was to say ‘this is the best wide receiver in the game right now, he has this tool, this tool, and this tool,’ I’d probably say Davante Adams.”

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst might not have grabbed a Round 1 target for Rodgers, but the Packers improved on draft weekend. Eric Stokes is an upgrade at cornerback on the outside with Jaire Alexander. Josh Myers could replace All-Pro Corey Linsley at center. From a route-running standpoint, Clemson’s Amari Rodgers might be the steal of Day 2.

Is it enough for Rodgers and Adams to keep the relationship alive. Based off a cryptic tweet from the Pro Bowl receiver, this could be the end of an era for the Packers.

The real question now comes down to if Love can play. Any upside and progress from getting drafted out of Utah State to now might make the decision easier for Green Bay. However, even if Love struggles, he’ll have the most reliable target in the NFL to work with.
