A belated congratulations to the members of the 2020 Baseball Hall of Fame class who were inducted into Cooperstown on Wednesday. Derek Jeter, Larry Walker and Ted Simmons were enshrined as players, with the late Marvin Miller finally going in as an executive. Jeter was the headliner, having received 99.75% of the BBWAA vote. He fell one vote short of becoming only the second player, behind teammate Mariano Rivera, to garner 100% of votes cast. During his acceptance speech, Jeter made sure to shout out the one voter who left him off of their ballot, “Thank you to the baseball writers – all but one of you – who voted for me.”
Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. Jeter may not have gotten every vote, but he was elected in his first year of eligibility. Including his class, a total of 53 MLB players have been elected to Cooperstown in the first year they were eligible. So with that in mind, how many of the 53 can you name in six minutes?
