2021 continues to be the season of Shohei.
On Friday, Ohtani crushed two more homers, giving him 30 at the mathematical halfway point, becoming just the third MLB player to pull off the feat. The 2021 MLB All-Star Game is less than two weeks away, and Ohtani will be all over those festivities, having been named a starter for the AL squad while electing to participate in the Home Run Derby as well. Angels manager Joe Maddon hopes to see Ohtani pull double-duty in the All-Star Game, and with good reason. The 26-year-old has drawn grandiose comparisons to Babe Ruth since coming into the league, but it turns out that those comps might be a bit unfair…to the Great Bambino.
Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. In MLB history, a player has hit 50 or more home runs in a season on 46 occasions, and, barring injury, Ohtani seems poised to join that list this year. So with that in mind, how many of these prolific tater-mashing sluggers can you name in five minutes?
