Brandun Lee Aims For Big Year, Backs Josh Taylor To Beat Jose Ramirez

Brandun Lee says he is targeting a world title shot within three fights and believes 2021 will be a breakthrough year for him.

The undefeated light welterweight contender, Lee (21-0, 19 KOs) stopped Dakota Linger in three rounds in December to bring up a 12th straight win by KO and announced on social media that he will return to action on March 10.

The 21-year-old expects to stamp his authority on the division this year and believes he is closing in on a maiden world title opportunity.

“I think my next fight is most definitely going to be the best fighter I’ve fought to date, so I’m looking forward to it,” Lee told proboxing-fans.com.

“I’m looking at the IBO world title. My good friend [Jaron] ‘Boots’ Ennis, he fought for the IBO world title and unfortunately in the first round the headbutt happened.

“We all know who was going to win the fight, Boots was clearly going to knock him out within two or three [rounds].

“Boots went for his world title, so I think it’s time I go for my world title in the next three fights.

“I feel like this is my breakout year. They know who I am but they’re just waiting to see if I can pull the trigger and I think once I do pull the trigger they’ll most definitely give me the respect.

“Like I said, next three fights I’d like to go for a world title, within three fights.”

Unified world champions Josh Taylor and Jose Ramirez are set to meet for the undisputed crown in May, although a date is still to be confirmed.

And Lee insists WBA ‘Super’ and IBF champion, Taylor has all the attributes to defeat WBC and WBO titlist, Ramirez.

“Taylor all the way,” the Californian replied when asked for his prediction.

“He’s southpaw, good boxer, good speed, good power, not one-dimensional, good defence, light on his feet, I mean, Taylor all the way.”
